Updating Old Videos with New Tags
« on: October 01, 2011, 06:45:16 PM »
I was reading in the Playbook that YT suggests going back and updating old archived videos with new and relevant tags. Has anyone tried this and seen much come of it?

If it's a video that doesn't get many views then by all means, do it. But I've heard of videos that were rather popular dropping down in search results once more tags were added or descriptions changed, so I would be careful if it's a video that receives a lot of views still.

Well, it did work for me I changed the title and tags on my 15,000,000 + video a few weeks ago and It had went down to 10k views a day after Aug 9 and now it getting 16 to 20k a day.

I spent quite a bit of time on a handful of videos in April (after whatever changed finally affected me).

I haven't had much success though adding metadata to my older poorly tagged/described videos.

I'll probably continue adding to others and hope I'll hit something one day...I didn't kill any of the videos I experimented with off, but they weren't doing that well to begin with.

My (most viewed train video) is almost at 20,000,000 now and yesterday I got 22,000 views on it so it is still going strong

Hasn't worked out so well for me yet, I tried on a few of my Nintendo parodies by adding "E3" and "Wii U" to the tags this month, but it didn't make a difference (could also be how bad E3 ending up sucking instead). I haven't seen much change for adding "The Dark Knight Rises" to a Harley Quinn one neither.

I'll keep trying though-I've yet to catch onto how tags work.

unless you forgot to include some major keywords, I dont think it will make a big difference, the boosters are likes, shares and subs.
