The eight sites listed below offer huge libraries of free royalty photos you can use in your projects - and most have no restrictions on the use of the photos, except that you can not sell the photos in a collection of photos for reuse.

The Commons on Flicker - a great place to find public domain images from archiving institutions around the world. According to the http://www.flickr.com/commons/usage/, all of the images are available for reuse without any copyright restrictions.

Stock.xchng - Almost 400,000 royalty freem images, managed by Getty Images. Searchable and downloadable. Find full terms of use at http://www.sxc.hu/info.phtml?f=help&s=7_2

MorgueFile - A huge collection of professionally shot photos. You are free to adapt the images, free to use for commercial purposes, no attribution required. Find terms of use at http://www.morguefile.com/license/morguefile/

Photos8 - More than 10,000 professionally shot and searchable stock photos, offered royalty free. Attribution required. Find terms of use at http://www.photos8.com/license.html

StockVault - Thousands of professionally shot stock photos, with no commercial use restrictions. Search by keyword and category. Find terms of use at http://www.stockvault.net/licensing.php

PhotoRack - Thousands of professionally shot stock photos, with no commercial use restrictions. Terms of Use: All photos at PhotoRack are Free to use for personal and commercial projects. No limitations.

Wikimedia Commons - more than 7 million freely usable photos and video files, searchable by keyword and category. Most photos submitted by individuals, and some photos require attribution. Terms of use shown with each photo.

AdSense Discussion / Views vs Monetized
« on: January 08, 2012, 10:59:23 AM »
One of my monetized videos is at 117,000 views so far this month (Jan 2012) but only registering 23,000 monetized views in my youtube analytics account.

Anyone know why?

The video in question is about 2 years old and is very popular in Egypt, etc for some reason.

thanks, Scott

My views spiked back up to normal on 12/28 after 2 weeks in the cellar.  But the earnings are still half of what they were before.  Can anyone explain that?

I talked to one of the biggest youtube channel owners in the fitness industry yesterday (500,000 + channel views) and he was down 70% views/earnings JUST AS OF THAT DAY (12/29).

He's been a partner for a long time and he said that he doesn't try to figure it out.  It always bounces back.

He has his own youtube partner support person rep and she can't explain why it happens, etc.

YT is his only job other than selling dvds and photos.

We agreed that the best way to get around this is to become a "celebrity" although that doesn't always fit within our personalities.

Happy New Year All!

Interesting article about youtube and wooing advertisers...

"It's been a year of upheaval at YouTube. In October, the site unveiled a long-awaited redesign meant to expand (and improve) its selection of videos in order to get users to spend more time watching them. Now, YouTube is shifting its focus to advertisers. "

Youtube Partner Tips & Tricks / Re: Contests?
« on: December 26, 2011, 04:24:59 PM »
I want to increase subscribers and encourage more interaction on my youtube channel.

Is it OK, to have giveaways (free dvds related to the youtube channel) for my channel subscribers?

I'm a partner and don't want to jeopardize my partner status...

Thanks in advance!

Scott

Hi, All

I'm Scott and am in the health and fitness industry.  I've been a full partner for about 10 months.  Been on YT since 2006.

Great forum!

Scott

Just to make sure...

I switched to the new UI about 10 days ago.  Is it possible that the new UI could be causing part of the views/earnings fall off?

So what's the best way to overcome this situation?

1) Redo titles, tags, descriptions, thumbnails?

2) Go for the "celebrity" aspect on youtube?  Does this affect the youtube "celebrities" when YT changes the algorythym?

3) Wait out the storm?

4) Get a real job?

15
Yep, I'm seeing it now.  Down about 40% overall...

Sorry to hear that!

It sucks to have no control over what happens.

Everything appears to be normal for me except for the fact that today is starting off a little slowly...

Hope it returns to normal for you!

So does anyone know if Youtube frowns upon profanity by others in the comments area of our vids?  Does youtube expect us to delete profanity from the comments area or should we just leave it and not worry about it?  I get the "f word" fairly often...

Thanks, Scott462

Thanks for the welcome!

I spoke with another youtube partner yesterday and she was seeing the same thing - higher than normal rpm.  We're both in the fitness industry...interesting.

Great site, new member here...I noticed a really high RPM yesterday (Dec 7th) and doubled my normal income on my YT partner channel.

Anyone else notice this yesterday?  Any particular reason why this happens?

(hope this OK to discuss - please delete if not)

Thanks, Scott462
